Friday 7th February 2025 16:00 at lake district
WELCOME BACK TO DUCC and here's to 2025! Our annual refreshers trip is occurring on the 7th-9th February! This trip is one of the most sociable trips for DUCC as it's a weekend trip all focused about white water!
What is there to know?
We drive Friday evening to the Lake district, then paddle a river each day of the weekend and return Sunday evening!
Requirements!
Enthusiasm! Obviously, it is a colder trip but you will have the ability to borrow 2 wetsuits and dry out stuff each night!
Must have done an INTRO TO WW (note there is one on the 1st Feb if you haven't!)
Must be comfortable with using a spray deck and capsize drill
Costings!
Deposit starts at £20 that is for accommodation, the only other costs are food, heating (bring a pound coin!) and fuel costs, so relatively cheap!
Any queries, ask Charlotte

THE
WEDNESDAY WARRIORS RETURN AT MC 13:30-15:00
This week will be a skilled based session! You voted in the socials chat and we are delivering :)
We will be focusing on teaching you how to dip turn this week. This is a really useful skill for polo, generally turning around quickly and just for fun!
To come to this session you must be comfortable in a polo boat and using a spray deck as this is the easiest boat to learn in :) If you aren't sure whether this is you please message either Madeline (training) or Ben (captain), please do message if you are unsure as we want to help you learn and give you as many opportunities as possible!
Please
bring a fleece to wear on the water, spare shoes, plenty of spare clothes and a
towel. It is best not to wear jeans on the water since these shrink when wet.
If
you unsign please pop a message in the socials chat so others can sign up
Any
questions please ask in the socials chat or message Madeline (Training)
See
you there!

MORE INTROs TO WW??? Yes, you heard right, the final intro to WW before refreshers... (exciting!!)
This is a day trip to the North Tyne or appropriate river depending on water levels.
The only costing is fuel for this trip and if all the seats are booked then will be between £5-£10 roughly but will depend on numbers of car places.
This trip is for those who have come to Wednesday sessions, used a spray deck and are comfortable with a capsize drill (recommended to do at a pool session if not done before). It is for those who are confident paddling on flat water, turning and moving a boat and are now ready for learning on harder water.
This is a day trip so please bring clothes to kayak in (lots of warm layers and fleeces) *no cotton or jean type clothing* we will provide wetsuits, cags and kayaking equipment but please bring enough layers to kayak in (the more you bring the better).
Please bring a change of clothes and shoes, a bag to put your kit in and lunch for the day, it's recommended to have a flask of hot drink as well for afterwards (it really does help internally warm you up!!).
Any queries, message Charlotte, your trip officer!
