Friday 1st November 2024 18:30 at North Tyne
Get ready for Tyne Tour!
Tyne tour is an annual kayaking festival where lots of locals, universities and paddlers camp on the Tyne Green and paddle down the classic white water section of the North Tyne.
Each year as a club we introduce freshers to white water and the friendly paddling community by going on the river on Saturday, having a Ceilidh which is a 'Scottish dance' where a band tells you the instructions and you all have a go and a laugh. Camp overnight at the Tyne Green and finally DUCC decides on a suitable river for the Sunday paddle.
As this is an external event the cost of 'Tyne Tour' is £37.50 this year which includes the camping, soup for the Saturday lunch, the organisation and the hiring of the venue of the Ceilidh and that itself. Please pay into our normal DUCC account and we then send an invoice to the organisers by THIS WEEKEND!
In addition fuel and food will be bought for lunches but usually dinners is a takeaway for ease.
Plan:
Friday: drive to Tyne Green and pitch tents,
Saturday: paddle the North Tyne, have soup, get changed and Ceilidh
Sunday: pack up the tents, go paddle another river (Leaders discretion) go home back to Maiden Castle
This is a white water trip: you MUST be able to use a spray deck and have done a capsize test. Be comfortable on moving water, being able to paddle in a straight line and turn and move when able. Any queries give Charlotte a message.

https://dolls-fry-3ni.craft.me/EU1UbqqaAZTK5W - for more info and photos!
Our second introduction to white water trip! This is a day trip to the North Tyne or appropriate river depending on water levels.
The only costing is fuel for this trip and if all the seats are booked then will be between £5-£10 roughly but will depend on numbers of car places.
This trip is for those who have come to Wednesday sessions, used a spray deck and are comfortable with a capsize drill (recommended to do at a pool session if not done before). It is for those who are confident paddling on flat water, turning and moving a boat and are now ready for harder water.
This is a day trip so please bring clothes to kayak in (lots of warm layers and fleeces) *no cotton or jean type clothing* we will provide wetsuits, cags and kayaking equipment but please bring enough layers to kayak in (the more you bring the better).
Please bring a change of clothes and shoes, a bag to put your kit in and lunch for the day, it's recommended to have a flask of hot drink as well for afterwards.
Any queries, message Charlotte, your trip officer!
