In this session you will be taught general kayaking skills, play games and have fun in the warmth of a swimming pool with our trained coaches -- one of the best sessions of the week to come to if you're a beginner, or if you want to work on improving any of your kayaking skills.
This is also a chance for more experienced members to come and practice their coaching or freestyle paddling, so there's something for everyone!
After a short break for Tyne Tour, weekly river trips continue with our second beginner level trip! This time we'll be heading a little further afield to the river Tees, where we'll do one of several excellent classic sections of whitewater, depending on conditions on the day.
You don't need to have been on a whitewater trip before to sign up for this one, so if you're interested just hit the sign up button below. If you've got any questions at all, just ask Max or Molly.
We will meet at the boathouse at 10 am to get everyone kitted up and ready -- all you need to bring is a set of warm clothes that you don't mind getting wet (NOT cotton), a dry set of clothes, a towel, and a snack and drink. We will provide all of the paddling kit you'll need for the river. The cost of this event will depend on the number of members attending, but should be around £5.
We meet at 19:40 at the maiden castle boathouse, load boats and kit onto cars and drive to Darlington. The session runs from 21:00-22:00. We then drive home and pack away the kit, where we will expect to be finished at about 22:45
Please bring swimwear a towel and also a short sleeved t-shirt or lycra rash-vest, the cost for these sessions are £5
Canoe polo is a fun team ball sport in kayaks, during the session we practice basic paddling and passing in polo boats to full attack and defense set ups, so there's plenty to do if you are a beginner or a pro looking to practice for the next tournament.

Winter is coming... but not before Tyne Tour.
Come along to one of the biggest paddling events of the year, where hundreds of paddlers descend on Hexham to paddle the north Tyne, meet other paddlers, dance the night away in the ceilidh and generally have a good time. It doesn't matter whether you are a seasoned paddler or a fresh faced beginner, this weekend away is a great time for everyone, so come along and enjoy.
We will head up on Friday evening to set up camp in Hexham, have a warm meal before preparing for the exciting Saturday, where we will head down the north Tyne, a river great for all levels with the exciting wardens gorge towards the end. And then in the evening the infamous ceilidh, where any sense of order left gets thrown out onto the banks of the river as you try to not fall over traversing the floor. On the Sunday we will find a suitable river on the way back to Durham before ending up at the boathouse.
Early bird tickets are £26 and with petrol costs expecting to be about £10 this trip is an amazingly cheap price for a weekend away. We will be camping so bring appropriate gear and plenty of warm clothes, and bring food for yourself or money to buy some whilst we are there.
If there are any questions don't hesitate to contact me (Connor) or any other exec through our email address, and for more info check out their website here.
