Welcome to DUCC!
Come join us for a chill paddle on the River Wear! This session is suitable for complete beginners so don't worry if you've never paddled before.
We provide all of the kayaking kit and the session is completely free (we offer three free sessions each). All you'll need is a spare change of clothes (just in case you get wet), some trainers to wear on the water, and a towel. Where possible, try to come to your session in what you intend to wear on the water.
Please come to the boathouse 15 minutes early so we can get you kitted up and choose a boat. We meet at the boathouse behind Maiden Castle next to the river (see the about tab for more info on where to find us)
If you have any questions, drop us a message on Instagram/Facebook.
We can't wait to see you on the water!
It's the trip you have all been waiting for:
Wales 2024!!
What more could you want than a place on this trip to get you motivated through May, onto June so that you can come to Wales!
From the 20th-25th DUCC will be heading down to Wales for our cross-over kayaking - from social paddles to Whitewater kayaking, Wales has it all! (and a lot of choccy milk!!)
We aim to have a variety of paddling opportunities to cater towards the group mixed in with a social event and a really lovely atmosphere.
Have a look at last year's Wales trip: https://www.instagram.com/p/CuWg5KMoqGg/?igsh=MXM1czQ5cnd2NGR3OQ==
ALL ABILITIES WELCOME if you are a member of the club! We stay in a scout hut which is £6/person/night and there are showers! Deposit for this trip is £30 to secure your place. You will need a roll mat and sleeping bag for this trip but the overall accommodation is very nice for the price. Any queries give your Trip Officer (Charlotte) a message!

This is a great way to relax, take
whatever boat you are comfortable in - we will paddle up to Prebends Bridge and
possibly play some games once we're there.
You should be comfortable paddling that distance (and back) at a leisurely
pace. Meet at 6, we should be off the water by about 8.
CANCELLED CANCELLED
Turn up and have fun
Played canoe polo before? Amazing! Imagine all the fun of previous sessions but minus the fitness and add (hopefully) sunny weather! Come along to develop some skills and chat with friends in a fun, hopefully helpful, fitness free session!
Not played canoe polo before? That means you haven't known the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of high sch-, sorry, university canoe polo. But this can be rectified! Come along to learn the basics and throw a ball around in the sun. It's not like you have much else to do now exams are over!
The exact contents of this session will depend on what ability mix we have.
Any questions chat to Sarah!

Off to the Tees tomorrow!
Boathouse at 9am - bring some water for the day and lunch for the way back or at least some snacks!
Don't forget a spare change of clothes, towels etc etc.
It has been raining but should be a nice and decent level. Perfect opportunity to lap certain features such as dog's leg and low force.
Any queries give Charlotte a message!

---**NOTE: The river levels have
the potential to get a lil *spicy* this time of year so the session may be

We take
polo boats and spraydecks for these sessions. These are tippier than river
boats and if you aren't comfortable in one then come on Wednesday instead. Any
questions ask Josh.
Slightly later than normal this week, if you would prefer it to be earlier let Madeline/Josh know.
