Thursday Polo Session

Weekly polo session.

These sessions are the perfect opportunity to get some practise in for BUCS polo (just after Easter) or the local league matches. Or just to have a bit of fun!

Meet 19:50 at Maiden Castle. We hope to be back at 22:45.

Strength and Conditioning

Weekly gym session with John Boyle now taking the sessions. No experience is needed but you will gain most from these sessions if you commit to them regularly.

Meet at 15:00 in Maiden Castle Reception. 

Bring: Indoor/gym work-out clothes

Wednesday River Wear Session

Weekly Wednesday Wear Wander

Every Wednesday there is river session in which you learn general kayaking skills. This session offers great preparation for weekend river trips, and generally helps increase your confidence and comfort in your boat for any type of paddling from white-water to polo. 
A couple of these session will also be done in longer boats, check the facebook page to see if this is happening.

Meet at the boathouse at 13:00
Bring clothes that are warm and that can get wet (not cotton) and a change of clothes for after the session.

Monday Skills Pool Session

The normal skills pool session where you can work on rolling, play boating or anything else that takes your fancy!

Meet at Maiden Castle at 19:50. We hope to be back in Durham by 22:45.

Bring: swimming costume and t-shirt/rash vest - anything you'll be comfortable wearing in a boat.

WW leader trip 2

River trip for the leaders group. Meet 9.30 at the boat house.

Yorkshire league -T6

This tournament is open to all levels and is in a warm pool! We will be playing against other teams from around York. 

Meet at the Boathouse at 15:00 because we need to load boats and drive to York.
We should be back in Durham at around 22:30

Cost varies by number of attendees but will likely be between £16 and £25. Please let Dan or Calum know if you have signed up but then decide you cannot make it before Thursday the 25th. If you sign-up and decide to not participate after this date (the 25th), you will be charged the full cost of the tournament.

John's Taster Session

Johns Taster Session

Fancy trying something new at University? DU Canoe Club is holding a  taster sessions for members of John’s College on the 11th March at Dolphin Centre in Darlington; so whether you’ve tried kayaking before or you’re a complete beginner, why not come along and see what we’ve got to offer? You'll be taught the basic paddle strokes and then we'll play some games to practice your new skills.   

All transport and equipment is provided. Just meet us outside John’s at 7.45pm and we’ll drive you to the session and drop you back their afterwards. Since the session is indoors all you need to bring is swimming stuff, a t-shirt and a towel. The session will cost £5 to cover the pool fees and petrol. Session times are posted in the event description above. 

Spaces are allocated on a first come first serve basis; 9 are available.

Pre-AGM Paddle!

Pre AGM paddle. We'll head somewhere local to be back in plenty of time for the AGM. Let's send the old exec out in style!

Wednesday Barrage Session

Get your weekly whitewater fix here. The barrage is a great place to learn new skills and just generally improve.

We will be working on general whitewater skills and, if anyone is keen, freestyle stuff! 

Meet at Maiden Castle at 16:00. We will be back at around 21:00. If these timings don't work, we may be able to change them.

NSR 2019!!!

Don your best costume, grab a drink and jump in a boat - the National Student Rodeo is back!

NSR is a fantastic freestyle kayaking event held at Holme Pierrepont white water course in Nottingham. Hundreds of students rock up for a crazy weekend of tricks, carnage and partying. Anyone can enter - there are classes for beginners and experts so don't worry if you think you're not good enough. Swimming is winning! 

There's a party on Saturday evening where everyone has to be in costume. This year's theme is A Journey Through Time, so choose an era and let the time war begin!

Everyone who has been has stories to share, so feel free to ask any questions.

We will be heading down on Friday night and returning on Sunday, camping at HPP for the weekend. Ticket prices:
