Our usual Wednesday session!
It is the last Wednesday before exam season 'officially starts' so feel free to come down to MC for a nice, gentle and carefree paddle!
Open to beginners as it's just a chill couple of hours on the River Wear with a few drills and games thrown in
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please bring a fleece to wear on the water, spare shoes, plenty of spare clothes and a towel.
If you have any queries, please contact Charlotte or Sarah. We hope to see you there!
We're back and grumpier than ever! READ THE BELOW NOTICE.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTICE: Although it will be slightly warmer than last term, swimming at 7:30am is still pretty miserable so make you're confident paddling in a straight line before signing up. Any questions ask Sarah/Martin
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start your bank holiday right with Monday Morning Fitness! Meet at the boathouse for 7.15am, off the water and dry-ish by 8.30am. Sometimes these will be super intense sprint sessions, other times it will be chill skills based workouts. No, I don't have a season plan for this. Bring gear that will keep you warm! And DEFINITELY bring spare clothes and a towel.
Small number of places for this session at post, but if more leaders are present this will change. If you're for some reason desperate to be out of bed super early on a Monday morning, keep an eye on this page.
The first of the year!
This session is aimed to help de-stress after a week of revision. It will be a nice and chill paddle to catch up and unwind
Please bring normal paddling kit
This session is for reasonably competent paddlers as we will be paddling about 6km
(Message Nick Case if you are not sure this is you)
The first Wednesday paddle of the term!!!
A chill afternoon to catch up, do some skills, and to distract you from all that revision you are surely doing...
Beginners are welcome!
Please bring clothes to wear on the river and shoes, a spare set of clothes (just in case), a towel.

Hey everyone,
TLDR: Provisional dates and interest registering for this Scotland trip! Currently, the dates are 21st-25th March (Monday-Friday), with kayaking every day. All abilities welcome, though 1 or 2 rivers may be for higher skills only. Estimated cost is £90 per person.
Longer Version: Kayaking in the Scottish Highlands is fun, and challenging for all levels of paddlers! This will make for a fantastic week, so I'd encourage you to come along if you can. Meet at the boathouse for 9am on the Monday, and return late-ish on the Friday. We're staying in lodges, so bring plenty of warm clothing and towels. Don't worry if you have work to do - I'll be bringing plenty along with me, and you'll have time in the evenings to do this stuff. The current costs - assuming 12 people sign up - are £88.62, and this includes food, lodging and transport.

If you have any questions, ask me (Martin) about it. I hope to see as many of you as possible!

NOTE - These sessions will be dark, and cold, and potentially quite miserable depending on how many alarms I missed that morning. Swimming at this time will likely lead to filling out paperwork because of the cold. As such, these sessions are exclusively reserved for club members who have either been to a morning session previously, or have been told by the exec that they are suitable. If you're in doubt, ask Martin.
Also, 7.15 start. Note the time change. Don't be stood around waiting.

Why run?
Not only does it look great on your CV, but is great fun and a genuine
pleasure to help run the club. You'll get to have a say in pretty much
everything we do as a club, so it's the best way to ensure that we - as a club
- keep running, giving you what you want, and having run. It's the best opportunity to leave your stamp on the club!
