After a long wait… it finally returns after being postponed for several years…
Refreshers 2023!
This trip is running from the 3rd of February until the evening of the 5th. (Specific leaving times will be confirmed with drivers)
This trip welcomes everyone who has been introduced to whitewater kayaking and is interested in improving and gaining new kayaking experiences.
For most freshers this will be the first away trip - the general plan includes:
Leaving Friday evening
Paddling Saturday
Paddling Sunday and then heading home to arrive in Durham in the evening.
I have made a very vague estimation of around £60 ish (if all places fill) for this trip which includes: accommodation, food, and travel for the weekend.
If you have any queries please send Charlotte a message - she is happy to try and answer them before sign-ups start.
Canceled!!!!!!

Just in time, prior to our refreshers trip! An Introduction to Whitewater session being run by Nick and Charlotte!
This session is specifically for those who want to come to refreshers and have not done an introductory session or been on white water yet, this will allow those people to get an idea of what to expect if they have a place on the refreshers trip.
The plan is to meet at MC at 7:30 (TBC) so that we can leave promptly and have a lot of time doing skills on the water. It will be cold and most likely a little wet for some people so please bring appropriate clothing to wear on the water and afterward plus, stuff to warm you up quickly afterward ie flasks of warm juice/tea, hand warmers, etc. Everyone is affected by the cold in different ways so prior personal preparation for individuals is always important.
Any queries give Charlotte a message!
A first of hopefully regular training at Stockton Polo pitches. This is outside so bring warm clothes and spares for after. This is a great opportunity to play on full size pitches.
We will meet at 9am for the first time (just to see how efficient we are, we may make it later if we are fast). The aim will be to do a good 1hr and 30min sesh and be back for 12.
Cost is £6
Any questions ask Nick or another member of the exec.

We have been invited to kayak with Maidstone Canoe Club (MCC - Charlotte's home kayaking club) at Abbey Rapids (if river levels are appropriate).
This is recommended for those who haven't paddled WW and want to be introduced but are comfortable in a boat with spray-deck etc, especially for those who are going on refreshers!
Currently, the information is sparse (as it is being based on MCC's timings) but the general plan is to meet at the boathouse in the morning, meet MCC at the get-in, help shuttle and go for a nice paddle with added introduction training.
Any queries - give Charlotte a message!
