Monday Morning Fitness is
back. We take polo boats and spraydecks for these sessions. These are tippier
than river boats and if you aren't comfortable in one then come on Wednesday
instead. Any questions ask Noah/Ben/Izzy
Meet at the boathouse at
7:15am, off the water by 8:30am so everyone can get to those all important 9am
lectures. Make sure to bring warm clothes since it will be freezing.
Please only attend this session if you are comfortable in a polo boat, and have chatted to Sarah (I promise I'm friendly!).
If you are new to the club this year but have now spent a good number of sessions in a polo boat please do drop me a message :)
If you are completely new to canoe polo, chat to our lovely exec to about how to get started - we'd love for you to get involved!

BackToBasics! This week is all about nailing the fundamentals - boat speed, agility, throwing and catching. We want to minimise turnovers due to our own inaccurate passing and unforced errors so you can never practice these things enough!
Session Focus: Boat comfort, speed and agility, accurate passing
Any questions, chat to Sarah. :)
If you're comfortable using a spraydeck and want to do canoe polo then this is the session to come to.
Meet at the boathouse at 11am on Saturday, bring a change of clothes and a towel. Ideally bring a fleece to wear on the water as it will be very cold this weekend. Keep an eye on the socials chat in case we need to cancel because of the weather.
Any questions ask Noah.
---**NOTE:
The river levels have the potential to get a lil *spicy* this time of year so
the session may be called off last minute **----

THE
WEDNESDAY WARRIORS RETURN AT MC 13:30-15:00
The
usual Wednesday session! Open to beginners and is simply a really chill couple
hours on the River Wear. If you did a fresher's session and enjoyed it this is
probably the next session for you - some games, some skills, lots of fun.
Please
bring a fleece to wear on the water, spare shoes, plenty of spare clothes and a
towel. It is best not to wear jeans on the water since these shrink when wet.
See
you there!
Our Monday pool sessions are back!
Learn to roll a kayak, in a warm environment!
£5 for this week's session pool hire and transportation.
Bring a towel, something you are happy to wear in the boat in
the pool (Sports clothes or a swimming costume with shorts/leggings and a
sports top work well) as well as a change of clothes for afterwards.
Priority is given to those who have paid for membership but non-members are
also welcome. If you un-sign within 24 hours and no-one takes your place then
we will still need to charge you to break even.
Meet at the boathouse at 7:30 pm for transport to the Pool session.

We
take wavehoppers for these sessions. These are extremely unstable and if you
haven't used one before then please don't come - swimming early in the morning
wouldn't be fun. Any questions ask Nick/Noah.

the cold and damp? Of course you do.

After a brief hiatus, we're back and better than ever! Following our recent debut at Yorkshire Polo, let's keep this momentum going!
In this session we will be looking mainly at attack, especially as this was something that was fed back to me as a coaching point from the recent tournament.
After this session we will have completed all the basics, and will be looking to improve our skills and fitness for the rest of the term.
Session Focus: Attacking principles, Managing space, Accurate Passing
Any questions, chat to Sarah. :)

Tyne Tour replacement paddle, so people signed up on Tyne Tour have priority but any spare spaces are open to any club members.
An easy intro to white water/fresher-friendly paddle.
This is a trip that includes driving to a river about an hour away so will cost about £10. exact price will be worked out after the trip and it depends if each car is full.
In terms of ability - you must be able to paddle confidently on flat water in a straight line and be able to turn comfortably. A spray deck is also a requirement, so you need to have used one before, and be comfortable with it. If you have any doubts or questions please speak with Joshua, Charlotte, or any of the leaders and we'll happily advise you or point you to who to talk to.
Please wear warm, non-cotton clothes to wear on the water, ideally including a couple of fleeces, wetsuits will be provided but more layers on top are recommended for a first session so you don't get cold, you don't have to wear them all, but if you haven't got them with you you can't use them. Then also bring spare clothes for afterwards to change into before getting back in the car, a towel, lunch, snacks and warm items for after so that the experience is much more enjoyable!
Arrive for the boathouse at 9:30 and we will get all the boats and kit sorted and on cars before heading off to the river.
Cancelled due to high water
Abby Rapids on the River Tees.
Open to anyone who has done any white water before. You don't need to be good to do this.
Priority goes to those who were booked on Tyne Tour. but feel free to sign up even if you were not booked on Tyne Tour.
Tyne tour
2023 3rd-
5th of November.
This is a
camping easy White Water and social event we go to every year on the banks of
the North Tyne about an hour's drive away. 2 days of paddling, the classic Ceilidh, a firework display, and lots of entertainment. The event costs £35 + transport and food which will be about an additional £20-£25, hopefully: only breakfast and lunch provided. Dinner will be a takeout sorted privately.
This is a
weekend away so bring everything you need for camping two nights + paddling two
days. Warm, non-cotton clothes to wear on the water, including plenty of
fleeces, If you don’t have a tent don’t
worry we have some tent spaces spare and hopefully can get a few more.
If you have
any tents or other camping equipment like spare roll mats you would be happy to share use of with the club please get in touch, we need members to share to save everyone having to buy their own for just one trip.
Even if you don't want to paddle please sign up, We have space to take more people than we can boats please just let Josh know your intentions. Any other questions please ask.
