Scotland 2023

Scotland 2023:

We have the availability to take 14 people to Scotland this year, we will be heading up early on Saturday 18th March and returning on Thursday 23rd of March in the evening. This trip is focused more towards those who have been getting involved in whitewater regularly this year or have been kayaking whitewater for a while now.

Depending on numbers we shall be staying in a bunkhouse which is currently estimated at £120/£125 per person for the week's trip. Food and travel will be calculated at the end of the trip.

PLEASE NOTE: Once sign-up has closed you are confirmed onto this trip and accommodation will be sorted with the expectation of all that have signed up and are going.

Payments for the deposit of the accomodation will have to be booked quickly too for reference!

If you have any queries give Charlotte a message, she will be happy to help! If you want a general idea of this trip have a look at last year's videos: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIfzN9E7ihUlfPCwp3AdRx-QZsj12Dm36

Freshers Progression WW paddle.

This is a slightly spontaneous trip designed mainly for kayaking freshers who have been involved in a variety of WW trips but need some more focus specific sessions. This trip is running mainly for freshers who are not going to Scotland (but Scotland freshers are also encouraged to come if they want some more practice).

River to be confirmed, as it depends on rain and group of people, but easy grade 3. However, with this week's forecast it could still be quite intense, so please bring plenty of layers.

Arrive at the boathouse at 8am (this does mean 8am Fin... not 11:33...), with the aspiration to be back late afternoon depending on the day, traffic and water etc.

If you have any questions regarding it, please speak to Josh, Nick, or Charlotte.

Friday Morning Fitness

--**NOTE: The river levels have the potential to get a lil *spicy* this time of year so the session may be called off last minute **----

Do you want to get up at 7am to go kayaking in the cold and damp? Of course you do!

Meet at the boathouse at 7:15am, off the water by 8:30am so everyone can get to those all important 9am lectures. Will be a mix of sprints, drills, chat, and general hard work but also fun.

Please make sure you are already comfortable wearing a spraydeck and with basic boat skills before coming (just because swimming at 7am isn't fun for anyone involved). Ask Sarah/Nick/Joe any questions!

Can't wait to see you there

Wednesday Afternoon Chill Paddle

We will meet at 10am. The aim will be to do a good 2hr sesh and be back for 1:30ish

National Student Rodeo

NSR!!!!

National Student Rodeo - its back for a final time, a kayaking student’s paradise - a weekend of kayaking and partying with fellow kayakers and having some safe yet entertaining kayaking carnage at HPP white water centre.

This weekend (3rd to 5th March) entails ‘competition-based kayaking’ but is categorised into novice, intermediate and advanced. This means it's 'fair game' for whoever wants to come, even if you have limited experience on white water!

*Okay, the above statement is really really underselling this. It's the last NSR EVER, and it's always a great time. Swimmers are Winners here, and the best prizes go to the freshiest of freshers. The parties are incredible, the people even more so. This is NOT an event to miss!*

Places are limited due to cars - if you are interested have a look at their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/national_student_rodeo/?hl=en

Tickets will be done through the club but cost £53 which is the standard competing ticket - camping, partying, Saturday dinner, and one competition event.

Extra food and travel will be calculated afterward.

Once our signups close, that ensures your place - another form will be out regarding what event and merchandise if/you want as it all goes through the club.

Any queries - give Charlotte a message!
