This Wednesday the 18th DUCC is going to run a returners whitewater
trip! This is going to run at the same time as the regular Wednesday session.
Easy Grade 3. If you have done white water before you should be able to
come. But if you have paddled WW recently please let someone who hasn’t get a
chance.
Please wear warm, non-cotton clothes to wear on the water, ideally
including a couple of fleeces. Bring spare clothes for afterwards to change
into before getting back in the car, a towel, snacks and warm items for after
so that the experience is much more enjoyable! Also, bring lunch to eat in the
car on the way if you haven’t already had time to eat. :)
Membership required.
Please arrive at the boathouse for 1. If you have a lecture till one,
just come as soon as you can, we have limited daylight so need to be back for
7p.m.
Any questions please ask Josh.
Signup 5p.m Friday.
Our Monday pool sessions are back!
Learn to roll a kayak, in a warm environment!
£5 for this week's session pool hire and transportation.
If you unsign within 24 hours and no-one fills your place then we will still need to charge you for the session
Bring a towel, something you are happy to wear in the boat in
the pool (Sports clothes or a swimming costume with shorts/leggings and a
sports top work well) as well as a change of clothes for afterwards.
Priority is given to those who have paid for membership but non-members are
also welcome.
Meet at the boathouse at 7:30 pm for transport to the Pool session.
We take wavehoppers for these sessions. These are extremely unstable and if you haven't used one before then please don't come - swimming early in the morning wouldn't be fun. Any questions ask Nick/Noah.
Do you want to go kayaking in the cold and damp? Of course you do.
Meet at the boathouse at 7:15am, off the water by 8:30am so everyone can get to those all important 9am lectures. We will be doing interval style training in wavehoppers.
Please only attend this session if you are comfortable in a polo boat, and have chatted to Sarah (I promise I'm friendly!)
If you are new to canoe polo, chat to our lovely exec to about how to get started - we'd love for you to get involved!

New year, new polo season! We're far enough into term now that I think everyone could do with getting out some aggresion!
In this session we will be tackling (hehehe) all things defence. We'll be understanding 3+1 and 2+2 formations, and working on how to react when people jostle us!
Session Focus: Defensive Formations, Defensive Jostling, Communication
Any questions, chat to Sarah. :)
*Cancelled*
10km or so steady wavehopper paddle
This Saturday the 14th DUCC is going to run the first
introduction to whitewater trip of the year!
This is a trip that includes driving to a river about an
hour away so will cost about £12. exact price will be worked out after the trip
and it depends if each car is full.
In terms of ability - you must be able to paddle confidently
on flat water in a straight line and be able to turn comfortably. A spray deck
is also a requirement, so you need to have used one before and be comfortable
with it. If you have any doubts or questions please speak with Joshua or
Charlotte; or any of the leaders at a session and we will happily advise you or
point you to who to talk to.
Please wear warm, non-cotton clothes to wear on the water,
ideally including a couple of fleeces, wetsuits will be provided but more
layers on top are recommended for a first session so you don't get cold, you
don't have to wear them all, but if you haven't got them with you you can't use
them. Then also bring spare clothes for afterwards to change into before
getting back in the car, a towel, lunch, snacks and warm items for after so
that the experience is much more enjoyable!
Also, you need to have club membership before coming on this
trip. Membership is £50 for the year plus you need to have TD membership which
if you don’t already have will cost £35. Any questions ask Patrick.
Arrive for the boathouse at 9:00 and we will get all the
boats and kit sorted and on cars before heading off to the river.
Signup opens at 7p.m. Wednessday.
For the returners who missed out on the paddle on the 23rd of September; don't worry I will be running something for you again soon. :)
---**NOTE: The river levels have the potential to get a lil *spicy* this time of year so the session may be called off last minute **----
We take polo boats and spraydecks for these sessions. These are tippier than river boats and if you aren't comfortable in one then come on Wednesday instead. Any questions ask Charlotte/Ben/Noah/Josh
Do you want to go kayaking in the cold and damp? Of course you do.
Meet at the boathouse at 7:15am, off the water by 8:30am so everyone can get to those all important 9am lectures. Will be a mix of sprints, drills, chat, and general hard work but also fun.
Ergo session for WWR paddlers.
Technique/efforts/distance.
Currently only 5 spaces as I am not sure how many ergos are in a good state!
No more than an hour or so long
Any issues please message Nick C
Due to high demand we're running two sessions this week!

THE WEDNESDAY WARRIORS RETURN AT MC 15:30-17:00
The usual Wednesday session! Open to beginners and is simply a really chill couple hours on the River Wear. If you did a fresher's session and enjoyed it this is probably the next session for you - some games, some skills, lots of fun.
Please bring a fleece to wear on the water, spare shoes, plenty of spare clothes and a towel. It is best not to wear jeans on the water since these shrink when wet.
See you there!

New year, new polo season! We're a couple of sessions in now so time to start doing some more specific skills!
In this session we will be tackling (I might have to include this pun every week) skills that are often used when we get a "break" - ie when we're not worrying about defenders as much! The goal will be making its debut appearance so don't miss it!
Session Focus: Dribbling, Shooting, Driving
Any questions, chat to Sarah. :)

Welcome to DUCC!
Come join us for a chill paddle on the River Wear! This session is suitable for complete beginners so don't worry if you've never paddled before.
We provide all of the kayaking kit and the session is completely free (we offer three free sessions each). All you'll need is a spare change of clothes (just in case you get wet), some trainers to wear on the water, and a towel. It is best not to wear cotton or jeans on the river. Where possible, try to come to your session in what you intend to wear on the water.
Please come to the boathouse 15 minutes early so we can get you kitted up and choose a boat. We meet at the boathouse behind Maiden Castle next to the river (see the about tab for more info on where to find us)
If you have any questions, drop us a message on Instagram/Facebook.
We can't wait to see you on the water!
